Thirteen excuses I've heard this month..... (I'm teaching brass a lot at the moment)
1. I've forgotten my instrument 2. My teacher wouldn't let me out for my lesson 3. I've forgotten my instrument 4. I forgot I had a lesson 5. I've forgotten my instrument 6. I've been to the orthodontist 7. I've forgotten my instrument 8. My mum lost her job today (and this means you can't have a lesson??) 9. I've forgotten my instrument 10. I forgot my music (this one doesn't work as I have plenty of spare music) 11. I've forgotten my instrument 12. I didn't think we had lessons this week (randomly mid term!) 13. I've forgotten my instrument
Have you spotted the most frequently used...?!

Haha, great list! The stupid excuses students try to get past you..!
My TT is about past and present music preferences.
As a musician, I can totally understand! Once we had a concert, and the woman who sits next to me left her flute at home! We all just stayed at her . . . how could you leave the house without the thing that represents the reason you are going? She managed it! This is an adult band, though, so we just chalked it up to a senior moment!
Funny list.
hey top - thanks for your comment on my blog - figures on the week when I arrive in the blogroll I'm running slightly late with my TT - I'll be up in the morning tho with any luck - this is a great list but what happened to "the dog ate my instrument"?? :)
tee hee I was just reading Jane H's comment... when I was little once when we arrived at church for the Christmas cantata (I was in the children's choir and was about 7 when this happened) I had forgotten my underpants! My mom had laid out all my clothes on the bed and I was so excited putting on my Sunday best that I forgot! Obviously not the same as forgetting one's instrument but crucial all the same - luckily we were early so Dad drove me back out to the farm to get them.
He,he,he ! Are you sure not suffering from Altzenheimer ? Even though I could justify that now, I suffered all my life from this ! The words "I have forgotten" are graved in my vocabulary.
Sorry to hear that your mother lost her job.
P.S. I prefer the "old" Mr. Linky this one is so small you hardly can see it !
Gattina - I agree with you about the linkies.... so I've put the old one on too & transferred you onto it.
And my mum is still employed - it's just an excuse one kid used on me this week and last week. Wanted to clear up any confusion.
Excuses excuses! Sounds like all your students are quite forgetful!
Hmm.. I think they've forgotten their instrument? Do I win a prize??? Rats! Happy TT.
LOL - the orthodonists must be very very busy in Glasgow! Hopefully they don´t forget their instruments =)
The only reason Glasgow's orthodontists are so busy is because Ceri's way of getting her students to play the right notes is to push the instrument hard into their face whenever they go wrong. Sort of a Glaswegian kiss with a trumpet!
Ouch.
what? No dog ate my sheet music? I'm so disappointed.
TC-How many instruments do you play?!
Bummer. I thought only American kids where that lame and unimaginative.
This is a great list though, and gives me ideas for other T13s. I've been having problems coming up with ideas lately.
LOL - I remember when I was in Band... I used to forget my insturment quite often ;) Which I guess is why I'm no good at playing the clarinet now...
LOL.. I wanted to leave a message earlier.. but I forgot my instument.. Umm I mean .. well.. Ummm...
Funny list.
And you're still sane after all those?
Excuses are like...well...you get the idea. Everybody's got one.
If we spent as much energy doing the stuff right the first time, we wouldn't need those excuses we sweat so much over!
Hey at least it's not paper so no-one could have eaten it!
How do you forget your instrument when you're going to take a music lesson?
Great list.
Your students are not that creative to find excuse!! I'm just substituing, and I had better than those!!
I was going to write you a comment, but I left my pc at home....
funny list! And I bet it's like that all the time!
I have actually taken my daughter to a mini-concert, only to discover in the rush out the door we'd left her french horn on the sofa in the living room!! :-S
LOLOLOL
Oh my--it's funny how they'll spend so much time trying to get around doing something when it would just be easier to do it.
Nice list--funny--sorry i am so tardy getting here.
