Lovable Playful 'Cuddle' Fish

I am thinking of getting fish (since my cat died)..... I'm not sure whether I like this touchy fish thing though or find it too odd....

What do you think?

That's bizarre.

I think that fish are lovely but nothing like a cat, that you can pick up and stroke. I would recommend another cat, actually:-) A kitten!

I used to have a fish, a tiny guppy, that would swim into your hand and just stay there. It would also follow your finger around in the water. It was pretty cool until someone forgot to wash their hands prior and she died.

I thought this touching thing with the fish was plain disturbing, and I don't know why. Maybe I'd be more impressed if it was a shark there, and the petting was being done "in tank" with it.

I'd get a kitten...and then, just to mix it up a little, the fish!!!!!

OooooooK. WTF?

I got through about a minute and a half of that before I wanted to shoot the hand that kept 'interfering' with that poor ugly fish. I kept thinking: 'bite her hand off, go on, just a little nibble at first, then maybe a finger... test her a little.'

But no. The fish was as much of a wimp as the owner of the hand. Perhaps I should have kept on watching, maybe, you'll tell me, there's some action at the end of the clip?? I doubt it.

Fish are smelly ... get a fur-bearing critter. Sorry I've been gone so long, TC. Glad to see you.

Ok, I'll have to agree with some of the above... that was weird! I really would get another cat if I were you... I can't see you getting much fun out of a fish like this...

Though, having said that, my daughter's friend has just got an enoooormous aquarium in the kitchen - it takes up one wall, almost, with all the filter systems etc in the cupboard underneath. But, boy, I could've sat and watched them all evening, with my cuppa in hand... it was very relaxing! :-)

See - relaxing I could REALLY do with sometimes....

A fish ? what an idea ! Apparently watiching fishs should be good for the nerves but you can't pet them ! It's cold and slippery. Can't you get another kitty or is it too early ? If you absolutely want another animal, then rather take a little hamster or a guinea pig, they are very cute and even if later you want another cat, they go very well together. We had a guinea pig who was the absolut boss in the house !

This is quite an interesting debate (in my own mind at least)...

If it's relaxing you want from fish the just get one of them quarium DVDs to stick on your tele all evening.

I guess the main benefit of a fish to you, is that they wouldn't ever escape from their tank and pester people in the night, they wouldn't bring mice or birds into the house and are probably cheaper when it comes to vets bills. On the other hand, whilst the cat owning community has some very eccentric members, it is largely fairly sane; whereas the fish owning community, as proven by that clip, is (outside of schools and businesses) completely nuts.

that's crazy! i never really liked fish even though i had them (and lots) as a kid but it intrigues me that these are interactive.

dunno....i still like my pets with 4 legs and a tail. sharp teeth optional. :)

it's hard being petless all of a sudden. just remember fish are lots of work (in terms of cleaning out their aquariums if you are diligent about it) but then again, birds are worse.

sorry to hear about your cat, time to adopt a new one.

Maybe you can take your blogging break to 'break in' a new pet? :-)

I think it's a matter of personal choice, anyhow - get what appeals to you most, sweetie!

don't want the commitment a furry pet demands! For years we've had hassle finding people to look after the cat, or not going away together because of the cat. We loved having her but I don't want to be tied down again. With fish I can just stick a food block in the tank for a few days and they won't be howling because they've missed me when I get home.

(Same reason I don't want kids).
