MyBlogLog

Has MyBlogLog destroyed the habitat of the lesser spotted lurker?

I used to enjoy a good lurk on a blog or two, particularly when I feel I don't have much to say on a topic, but enjoyed the read. I prefer to do this on the sly, and will leave a comment to say hello if I want the author to know I've read their blog.

Since joining My Blog Log, my photo follows me around. I no longer have the ability to lurk anonymously in the background.

I notice this because there was a new face on my snapshots in the sidebar this evening, and the first thing I did was to hop straight over to see who it was. It was a blog in French, which I don't understand (wish I did!), probably from a browser maybe using 'next blog'? Either way, the reader moved on without leaving a comment but was unable to move on without leaving a mark.

I'm not sure that I like it. What do you think?

I'm still on the fence about it, mostly because I think it has a power I haven't discovered yet, in terms of driving traffic to my site (of course, I feel that way about Technorati, too). I swear, these places are a full-time job in and of themselves.

That said, I don't mind if you know I'm lurking. I lurk a lot. And if you see my picture and come visit West of Mars, I'm a happy camper. I love it when people visit.

I didn't know that did happen! I don't have that and i don't even know how you get it! It is kinda cool, I guess. But sometimes, a person can leave and then check back or come back by accident and you might think they're weird! I've done that when I'm on someone's and then I go somewhere and get sidetracked and it looks like I'm stalking the blog for hours but I'm just absent-minded.

I don't do the mybloglog thing. Not that I'm against it- I just never got into it.

I try not to lurk. But sometimes I just can't think of anything to say. So I leave, and return the next day. It would be kind of weird having someone know I was there but didn't comment.

At first I thought it was cool. However, I've taken it off my blog because I don't want anyone to feel pressured to say something. It also makes me think twice about lurking on others.

I usually notice if there's a new face... and I'll probably click and link onto their blog to have a look when I spot them. I don't think they're bad or odd for not leaving a comment.

I enjoy being oblivious, I guess, because I have never thought about this. I just look at my comments. Lol.

Anonymity is the internet's greatest gift.

I hate the idea of people knowing I'm reading their blogs - if I want them to know, I'll comment.

Having said that, I don't think I have a MyBlogLog thingy so who cares?

I had it for about two days and then it made me feel weird. I like to visit pages frequently throughout the day and that thing made me feel like a stalker...lol.

If i see a new person I normally click on them and leave a message at mybloglog thanking them for sitting on THE COUCH....even they don't leave a comment'

Yeah, I feel you on that. I usually pop over to visit unfamiliar faces and still don't say anything, LOL.

It makes me wonder how they got to my blog, though. What were they looking for? Because when I read their posts we don't seem to have much in common.

To each his own I say. I signed up, but then something happened and now my photo doesn't appear anymore. I'm fine with that.

I don't mind lurkers. Sometimes there just isn't anything to say and I never want to put pressure on anyone who visits my place.

I like it. I like to see who has been to my blog. My blog is comment if you wish, so most the time its the only way I know they have been there.
I rarely comment so most of the time its the only record of my visit.
