Bad day over now

Well it's done - Kandinsky has gone. We took her to the vets this morning and they told us the cancer had spread to her intestine. She had also dropped her weight from 3.5kg on 14th December to 3.2 today - which is quite a big drop really proportionately over two weeks. So there wasn't really a choice.

Many thanks to everyone for helping us. It was the most horrible thing I've done - we loved her and it's very difficult to let go.

This afternoon we just abandoned ship and went down South together - nothing left to hang around in Glasgow for and we needed something to do. So this is me on my Dad's computer. It's the first time I've seen the blog on a different PC and it is strange that it looks so different. I'd never really thought that people would see it differently.

My neighbour then phoned to tell me that our organic vegetable box had been delivered and should she check there were no perishables. I said to her to take anything she could use and she rang off saying she'd leave the box in our house. About 20 seconds later PANIC STRUCK! We have left our house an absolute pig sty. I haven't swept the kitchen floor since Christmas Eve and there are actually star shaped icing sugar remains on the surface from where I made gingerbread cookies the other day. I WAS SO EMBARASSED! I tried to call and ask her just to take all the food and we'd come and collect it from her but she'd already left her house. AAAAGH!!!!!!! At least I'd done the washing up before we left.

I'm off now to have get ready to pop out for a bit. Going to head into the town to see some old friends - not drinking as I suspect it wouldn' t take too much to set me off again!! Mum and Dad are out tonight at the theatre (gone to Stratford to see the Royal Shakespeare Company... how posh!!) so I'll see them when I get back.

Anyway: Thanks again x x

I am so sorry to hear this sad news, but Kandi isn't suffering anymore.

It's hard to let them go, so hard, but sometimes you have to do it for them, when you would rather do anything to keep them with you.

I'm so sorry about your beloved Kandinsky. The most difficult choice one has to make about that lovely ball of fur that's a part of your family...

Give yourself time...

What you did is a very hard thing to do, very very hard. But you put Kandi and her feelings FIRST and that is what counts. She is at peace and not hurting.

Their devotion to us is so extraordinary, they will keep themselves going no matter what the pain or suffering.

If there is anything I can do, just let me know. I feel so helpless.

Take care and you are in our prayers...ML

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a pet is very much like losing a family member. They added their personality to your life and made it better.

Keep the good memories and pictures!

Hugs!

I just heard about Kandi's passing. I'm so sorry! At least you know now she is happy and running about at the Rainbow Bridge. I lost my beloved Danny Boy two years ago to cancer, much in the same way. It was an agressive cancer. I still miss him so much. Take care. You will be in my thoughts and prayers as well.

Big, big hugs, Topchamp!!

I'm so sorry you had to make that decision, but you did the right thing, a very selfless thing. The poor mite would only have got worse, and in more pain.

Kandinski will always be with you - I know my pets are still treasured by the whole family, and those photos are precious in time to come.

And of your other matter - your messy house - bet your neighbour is even more friendly after visiting your house... there's nothing more satisfying than going into someone else's house and finding it as messy (or even messier?) than your own... usually puts me right at ease. And if she makes a comment (which she won't) then you can always blame it on your recent tragic distraction... seeing as it is a definate possibility that this is the centre cause of the mess being left (unless, of course, you are like me and live in permenant chaos!!)

((((((More big hugs)))))

Oh, and if you don't get on a pc beforehand - Happy New Year!!

I'm sorry. I know you wanted to hang on to her forever, but you put Kandinsky first, no matter how much it hurt.

And I think you have every excuse to leave the house however you left it, up to and including on fire. I'm not sure I would have remembered to close the door after what you and Kandi have gone through.

Again, another hug and kind thoughts. As many have said, losing a pet can be sas difficult as losing a family member.
You will remember her always.

We are so sorry to hear your sad news. Try to take comfort in the knowledge that she is no longer sick and in pain. Now she will be whole again, and enjoy her time at the Rainbow Bridge playing with her friends, old and new.

You're all so lovely! I think she's better off this way. Took a day or two of telling myself that to really believe it but you all helped loads.

My old cat Tito is here (Mum & Dad's) and he is great. It was a bit weird seeing him at first as he's a tabby too and he's 19 when my cat had just died at 7, but he has been quite happy to give me lots of cuddles so the weirdness has gone.

We are so sorry to hear about Kandi. The rainbow bridge is where we'll all meet again. It doesn't seem like it but eventually over time it won't hurt so much although we never stop thinking about our "babies" from before. They are always in our hearts.

So sorry to hear about Kandinsky. :( I lost my long-time companion Whiskers in September, so I know what it's like to lose a dear cat. Kandi is now at the Rainbow Bridge.

You have my condolences.
